My goodness, I am going to miss your weekly Ed tech posts. You have helped this math educator way up in Northeast Montana reflect deeply about my pedagogy and teaching style. Thank you for doing this weekly letter for as long as you have! 🦀
Thanks for your question, Mark. My love and anger cohabitate. They do not undermine each other. In this, I try to follow the example set by many people from my faith tradition, including the prophets and Jesus Christ himself.
Had the same question as Nick Corley and Celeste Bancos. As a math educator, I completely agree that Dylan Kane and Robin Kubasiak have helpful Substacks that can be applied immediately to teaching your students. Dylan Kane, for example, has an excellent post about Do Nows and I've started using the Number Snake puzzles he told me about. Robin Kubasiak has helpful guidance about using vertical whiteboards and Building A Thinking Classroom techniques that can be used in conjunction with Desmos/Amplify Curriculum.
Great analogy to the church and blind faith. I see the incantations on LinkedIn every day. AI is changing the adult business world, but like other new developments, it shouldn't be foisted on the kids if it removes social connection. Or heck, if it's just wrong and inconsistent!
Excellent. Curious to know if there was any reaction from attendees. And, did you hear Linda McMahon speak? I heard referred to AI as AI, as in the steak sauce, and was marveling how it was available to the littles.
So.....what are you building at Amplify? Inquiring minds want to know!
Yes I hope we will get periodic updates! Excited to see what you make :)
Godspeed with the new project, and I hope I have a chance to thank you for this work in person next month at the Northwestern U. event.

Love your work!
Do you think your message of increased compassion and connection can be applied to those vendors you disagree with?
Try it!

Oh brother

Dan, I just loved your presentation and have been inspired by your dedication to being a great teacher for years now. Thanks so much.
I love this newsletter and your valuable ideas about valuing teachers' work and then needs and desires of students.
