Dan- I think you are on the right track. I would suggest that better training on math progressions and deeper content knowledge might help many teachers productively and confidently dissect student work- engaging everyone
Pre-Covid, we had time to collaborate and look at student work and pay attention to what students were thinking, be it at the entry level stage or the flexibility stage. Now, with the emphasis being "mind the gap" and "fix the gap" of lost learning, as well as the teacher shortage, we have yet to move back to that kind of P.D. I do not give up hope that over the next few years we can get back to a standards based approach.
